This Lego beach buggy and windsurfer set was released in 1992. A really neat little set with some nifty design elements.
For a set with just 44 pieces (Bricklink stats – I didn’t take mine apart to count!), there’s a lot of playability. There’s not just the beach buggy, but there’s also the windsurfing board, mast and sail.
This small set is packed with nifty design features – like the space for the rolled up sail, the suspension at the back wheels and the use of the horse hitch to make up the body of the buggy.
One thing I really miss from the Lego catalogues of old are the layouts – and the Beach Bandit is featured in this one from 1992. Just take a look at how many leisure activities Lego minifigures had to keep them occupied back then. (PS you’ll find my review of 6530 – City Car here)!
And it’s a true testament of the quality of Lego bricks that this set is 24 years old and is still in pretty near perfect condition – alls good (including the sail!) except two small brackets on top of the board which hold the mast.
